Good evening ladies and gentlemen friends of the AAMA; PAREV good evening very esteemed guests, colleagues, physicians, Scientists, pharmacists, nurses and students.
We all have different backgrounds but our platform is healthcare. Today is a celebration of passion for health.
This executive committee is such a cohesive force as you have seen. The strength of our conviction tested regularly from our original ideas to fruition. This AAMA continues to bring the medical community together in philanthropy. We empower the youth and bring the generations to network. What changes our world is the difference between what you do and what you’re capable of!
In the aftermath of ‘four day war’ last year our committee along with the greater Boston area physicians successfully rallied and transferred to Armenia and Artsakh 12 wound vacuums and their supplies totaling $800,000 and after that 300 pounds of combat gauzes.
We started Skype conferences with YSMU a few months ago.
We started the Blood for Memory drive 3 years ago and both Dana Farber and Mt Auburn Hospitals established partnerships with us.
We walk with the Armenian bone marrow donor registry in Watertown , we walk with the Jimmy fund in Boston for ‘city of smiles in Armenia’ we support the Dermatologic Laser initiative by Lilit and Rox Andersen, we started a medical student mentor ship program and handled numerous other get-togethers and a xmas brunch.
We had successful joint banquets with our nursing, dental and pharmacist colleagues.
We had annual conferences by Dr Mher Musaelian from Karabagh, Dr Caroline Apovian, Dr khatchig Mouradian, Dr Gevorg Yaghjian, Dr Jon Chilingerian and Dr Lilit Gharibyan.
We honored Dr Aram Chobanian, Dr Raymond Damadian, Dr Varant Hagopian, Dr Nishan Goudsouzian, Dr Richard Babayan and now we embrace an international man Dr. John Bilezikian.
The theme tonight is ‘reconnecting‘ and as you see from the Honoree Your legacy is what you weave into the lives of others.
Dr. John Bilezikian is the prominent leader in science and medicine teaching quality and excellence in the USA but inspiring generations to act also in Armenia.
Dr. Bilezikian is fantastically recognized in his specialty as a prolific professor with eternal enthusiasm who engages everyone around him. Our guest speakers will talk about all this and Dr. Bilezikian’s dedication to his art profession and mankind. A few weeks ago, Dr. Bilezikian led the 11th annual International Osteoporosis Symposium, which focused on updates in epidemiology, nutrition, risk factors, perimenopausal women’s skeletal health, and causes of osteoporosis and its management.
Today 3 medical students get scholarships of unprecedented value from Our AAMA Association. They are chosen for their 'passion for health!' We now recognize and salute you as the next generation. Alyssa, Shaunt and Simon You have studied and you have volunteered. You now have mentors advisors and partners in your journey. Your commitment should be to improve healthcare.
It’s my privilege to serve with an awesome executive committee indeed. My journey however started year 2000 as a member and among you sit past presidents that helped this organization. Armineh, Rosalyn, Vatche, Shant and Raffi you're the best! I thank my wife Araz for supporting me through 1000 texts and emails and with every event!
Our MC today is Shant he will make sure we have dinner and a dance but also perhaps get invited to Dr Bilezikian's cruiseship someday. Thank you for your partnership and attendance.
